Whether you are a music fan or not, everyone should experience seeing great artists perform live. Going to a concert is so much better than hearing your favorite performer or band on your earbuds. And if you think you are too old to rock out at a concert, you would be so wrong. In fact, when you are done with your New York Medicaid services appointment, you should check out who will be touring this year.

Better still, we will tell you who is touring this year. You might be surprised by all of the bands you grew up with that are on the list.

Kansas

Kansas is hitting the road for an extensive American tour beginning March 24. The 40th-anniversary Leftoverture tour will include the songs you hum from time to time including ‘Wayward Son’ and ‘Dust in the Wind.’

Jefferson Starship

Early spring is when this group is set to embark on its Carry the Fire tour. The band’s continued existence stands as a tribute to Paul Kantor, who passed this last year, and former singer Grace Slick. It’s hard to believe that 50 years after the Summer of Love the band continues to tour.

Toto

Toto has announced a round of tour dates in the United States beginning in the summer. The multi-Grammy Award winning band billed their show as “An Evening With Toto” and their performance will feature classic hits including ‘Africa’ and ‘Rosanna’ and newer material from their latest album.

Billy Joel

Although Billy Joel is 67, he has given us no indication that he will be letting up anytime soon. He has achieved a powerful stage presence by cracking jokes and leading devoted fans down memory lane with songs like “Big Shot’ and ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire.’

Classic West Festival

Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles are set to headline a pair of music festivals to take place on each coast this summer. Steely Dan, Earth, Wind and Fire, Journey and The Doobie Brothers are set to join them. This is a blockbuster concert that you will not want to miss, even if you aren’t a big fan of 1970s bands. The East coast concert is set for July 29 and 30 here in New York.

ZZ Top

If your goal was to start a band that would function at peak level with the same members for 50 years, you would be inspired by ZZ Top. Gibbons, Hill and Beard have mastered the veteran art of stagecraft, they know how to efficiently keep the crowd in the palm of their hands with synchronized moves, fuzzy guitars and cheap sunglasses. And don’t forget about the epic beards, which happen to be an “in” thing again. Seriously, these guys put on an amazing show.

Boston

Boston is set to hit the road this summer with their Hyper Space Tour which kicks off April 14. Boston prides itself on performing a totally live show and delivering an experience that is faithful to the studio recordings. Their timeless songs appeal to both young and old, so you will see people of all ages at their shows. We hear the light show will totally blow you away.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

After a three-year hiatus, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers shook off the rust and are in stellar shape as they head into their 40th Anniversary tour. April 20th is when it all kicks off and you had better get your tickets fast as many shows are sure to sell out. On a sad note, Petty recently stated in an interview with Rolling Stone that this might be the last trip they take around the country. The band still plans on playing, but it is unlikely they will have any more big tours. So you better go see them while you have a chance.

Since they don’t have a new album to promote, you will be hearing a set full of classics like ‘Refugee’ and ‘American Girl.’

Def Leppard, Poison, Tesla

Def Leppard, Poison and Tesla have teamed up for a three-month-long tour this summer. This is the first tour to feature all four original Poison members in several years. If you go, this promises to be an amazing night of rock-n-roll.
