We bet you can think of plenty of reasons not to retire early. For instance, you might live longer than expected and run out of money, you might get bored out of your mind or you might drown in steep health care costs. While these are legitimate concerns, there are also plenty of great reasons to retire early anyway.
Your Medicaid planning company in New York has a few good reasons to retire early.
Because You Can
If you have lived below your means for an extended period of time and avoided financial distress, there is a good chance that you can retire early. Mainly because you have proven to yourself that you don’t have to be a big spender and you know how to avoid debt. You lived your life not worrying about keeping up with the Joneses and were quite content with what you could afford.
Well, your reward is early retirement. Now, you can continue to work if you like, it gives you extra money for the little things you enjoy so much, but just on a part-time basis.
It’s Good for Your Health
What would you do if you could retire early? Obviously, you would do the things you didn’t have time for when you were working. For example, you have always wanted to get more exercise, but finding the time before or after work proved to be impossible. Perhaps upon retirement, you will take up snow skiing, disc golf or mountain biking, all recreational activities you have had an interest in.
So, instead of sitting at a workstation all day, you retire and spend your days on mountain trails, ski slopes and disc golf courses. You get more exercise than ever before and reap the health benefits. Not only that, by giving up your job to retire, you let go of all the stress associated with it. Yet another health benefit of early retirement.
Free Time
If you ask your children what was the best part of their school day, most of them would say recess. Recess is the best part of the day because you get to do whatever you want, you aren’t tied down by math or social studies.
Now, think about your favorite part of the day, we bet it doesn’t involve any activity you do at work. No way, your favorite part of the day is when you sip a White Russian while soaking in your hot tub or taking your grandkids to the park so you can push them on the swings. Early retirement offers you all the free time you need to do the things you want to do.
Pursue a Dream
You will never get that novel written while you are working full time. But if you retire early, you can write that novel and have plenty of time traveling to Barnes and Noble locations across the states for book signings. You wouldn’t even have to take vacation time to appear on the Ellen show.
Even if you aren’t a writer, you probably have a passion you wish to pursue. Maybe you have always wanted to restore an American muscle car like a Chevy Nova or a Dodge Charger. Retire early and go for it!
