Book Club
If you love to read and love to mingle with others, joining a book club is a great idea. You can join a formal book club or simply call up friends and family and form one yourself. Either way, you get to spend a great deal of time doing what you love most; reading books. Then meet once a week to discuss the books you read. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon.
Crafting
Activities like scrapbooking, quilting and knitting offer new skills and ways to meet new people and make long-lasting friends. All you need to start are a few supplies and a passion for creating wonderful works of art.
Squash
Squash is a great way to get some much-needed exercise and spend time together with a worthy opponent. You really don’t have to understand the rules of squash to play, just get out there and crush that ball.
Horse Riding
Horse riding is something that most women want to try at some point in their life. Remember, it all began when you were a young girl and wanted a pony for Christmas.
Horse riding is a wonderful hobby because you get to enjoy nature on the back of a beautiful horse. And there is a sense of freedom that comes when you are atop a powerful beast.
In addition to all of this, horse riding is also a great way to stay in shape.
Art
You might not be the next Rembrandt or Picasso, but if you have even just a little talent, you should get involved in art.There is just something magical about staring at a blank canvas and thinking about what you want to create.
There are any number of art classes you can take right here in New York. From watercolor classes to sculpting, find your medium and go for it.
Join a Band
If you can sing or play an instrument, either join a band or start a band. Starting a band is great because you get to help choose the name. Something like Iron Grandma, Stingy Tipper or Prudent Beast are totally great rock band names.
