You are probably looking forward to retirement with anticipation and eagerness. Retirement is a well-deserved reward for all of the years of hard work you have put in. When you retire, there will be all sorts of cool ways to fill the time once you are free from the constraints of work. When you retire, time truly does belong to you.
But perhaps you are a little hesitant about retirement, you aren’t quite sure what it will be like. This is a common feeling among many, but don’t let it stop you from launching into your retirement at full force. Your New York Medicaid services offer you several reasons you will love being retired.
No Bedtime
You don’t have to worry about getting up early in the morning to go to work so this means you can stay up as late as you desire. Think back to the days of summer when you were a youth and didn’t have to go to school. It was those few months a year when you became a night owl and stayed up late watching your favorite television shows.
When you retire, you can stay up past your bedtime to finish that movie or watch the rest of that baseball game played on the West Coast.
No Rush Hour
When you retire, there is really no need to be on the road at seven in the morning or five in the evening, so you can avoid rush hour traffic. Whatever driving that you need to do can be done mid-morning or mid-afternoon when traffic is smooth like Jazz.
In addition, the stores you visit weekdays will be a lot less crowded, making shopping that much more enjoyable. And if you need to schedule a doctor or dentist appointment and you are asked what time and day works best for you, you say, “anytime works for me.”
Spontaneity
If you get the sudden urge to swing by Ben & Jerry’s at one in the afternoon for some Chocolate Garcia, there is nothing holding you back. If you want to drop everything you are doing and go fishing, go ahead and go. Since you are retired and not tied down to a job, you are free to do pretty much whatever you want whenever you want. Go for it.
Get Up Whenever
So you stayed up and watched the baseball game last night and went to bed way past your normal time, no big deal. You don’t have to be anywhere in the morning so go ahead and sleep in. In fact, sleep in until 10 and then go have breakfast at Denny’s.
No Performance Reviews
It really doesn’t matter how well you cleaned the kitchen or scrubbed the bathroom because nobody is around to give you performance reviews. You have spent years doing tasks by the book and methodically in fear that your boss will give you a bad review. When you retire, your spouse is the only one who can criticize your work, but that has been happening for years anyway.
Surf All Day
While many companies are rather lax at what websites you can visit, there are just some you cannot get caught visiting when you are at work. But when you retire, you can spend all day browsing whatever websites you desire. If you want to surf Instagram, Craigslist or Ebay all day long, go for it because no IT guy is logging the sites you visit.
Read a Book
In this age of technology when so many employees spend their days in front of a computer screen, the last thing people want to do after work is read. Staring at one or two monitors all day long takes it toll on the eyes. But when you retire, you don’t have to stare at that computer screen all day and instead, you can spend your time sipping tea and reading books. Go on, we are willing to bet there are several titles you want to read.
Get Active
You might be aware of the studies that suggest sitting is bad for you. In fact, many of you were probably glued to your chair at work when reading about the studies. Well, it’s true, sitting for long periods of time every day is extremely unhealthy. When you retire, make up for all of that downtime by getting up and being active.
As you can see, there are several reasons you will enjoy retirement.
